You can buy packages of small rats for $1 or so at Wal-Mart or Target in the Halloween section. The larger rats I got at our local party store.

Print and cute out these cute cupcake picks from Pumpkin Petunia. BTW, she has GREAT party ideas if you're ever looking for inspiration. Tape or glue the circles to toothpicks. Thanks for sharing, Jo-Ann!
Add a pick to each of your cupcakes and you're done! So easy and super gross!

Eww!!
It's amazing how one decorative touch can change everything!
By the way, I linked to your pomegranate and strawberry soup today! Yum!
So awesome and so gross at the same time!
That is so gross and my mom would freak out! Maybe I will just make them! Maybe Christmas mice :)
Cute idea! I made the Goblin Toes for our party tomorrow. Can't wait to see the kids reactions!
Love this! Reposted on my blog at http://itisagoodday.blogspot.com/2010/10/halloween-last-minute-ideas.html. Thanks! Teresa
Love it, I mean hate it when those little creatures get into my goodies. Nice and creepy. Would the kids eat them after the rats got them?
Hopping over from Taste and Tell where I read about you. It was fun getting to know you.
I LOVED this idea! I don't even really celebrate Halloween but when I saw the rats I busted out laughing :~D I have a coworker whos birthday is today and I think, if I have time, I'm going to make her these. I'm going to tell her that I had some "leftover" cupcakes from Halloween. Call me sick but I think this would make a great funny gift/treat anytime of the year for those with a sense of humor. Thank so much for the idea.
I'm STILL LAUGHING at the thought of taking these to work Monday!!!!
yikes!!!! they look too real!
I made some rats on cupcakes today. My rats weren't as cute as yours but they were still hungry little critters. I even used some of the chocolate cake and rolled little oval rat droppings out of what I removed. I sprinkled the droppings on top of some of the cupcakes and around the bottom edges. I'll post the pictures tomorrow when I have time.... AnnasEdibleArrangements.Blogspot.com
